Bad luck traveled with the CRP team as they returned home to North Carolina after competing in the SPEED World Challenge '08 race at Sebring.
Their rented trailer caught fire, engulfing their bad boy #12 in flames. Composite plastics and fire don't mix as the pictures attest. Among the Vette's ashes are some 3-degree burned Vette logos and Jake decals - though still intact and proud.
The trailer was covered by insurance - but alas, not the car! Not to be bowed, the team is scrambling to get back on the track - not an easy task with no major sponsors or funding. Team owner Nick Short has made a vow that prize money won by the CRP team this season will be donated to charity to turn this negative into a positive.
Says a defiant Nick: "We will be back."

I hate to say it but that WAS my #28 World Challenge car from last season. We built it in our shop at LG Motorsports.
I hope that they can get it going again.
