The 2009 Corvette ZR1 has set an official lap time of 7:26.4. This beats the Nissan GTR by about 3 seconds (or 0.673% of a lap).
The interesting thing to us is that it wasn't a "professional driver" in the car - it was Jim Mero, a GM engineer.
Now we're not saying anything about Jim's driving because hey, that's a fast time, but did the GM Factory drivers get a shot at beating the Nissan and fail, or did Jim just do a good enough job where they didn't need to be bothered?
Will we see a faster ZR1 time set after the Honda Civic Nissan GTR V-spec (probably) breaks the 7:26?
Put Jan Magnussen in the ZR1, I guarantee the ZR1 will beat the Nissan GT-R Spec-V for sure.

C'mon guys, throw some decent tires on and get one of the team drivers out there (no disrespect to Jim) and let's show 'em what we can really do!

I understand the AutoArt 2007 Corvette 1/18 models are due out this month. The paint is like the final race last year. They will be a hot item for sure.

2009 ZR MSRP - $103,300
2009 Nissan GTR MSRP - $69,850
Leave it to GM to spend $30,000 extra in MSRP to get 3 more seconds at NBG. Can someone say crappy engineering......??

Jim is flying, although it seems like he wasn't pushing it very hard in the final straight.
Wish I had the money.
